Aged 50 Dave is the MD of Nationwide Thermal Engineering Ltd who started racing in 2007.
Dave has had a passion for TVR since the age of 10. Deciding that driving them on the road was simply not enough, he took to the track, became hooked and wanted to develop a class C car. He is with the DTEC series as it is friendly and that is where he wanted to be.
He started with track days using his old Chimaera and, later, a MK2 Tuscan. He purchased the Class C Tasmin in 2006 just to do track days but got bored with that so had a dabble in sprints and hill climbs. He got bored with that very quickly and started racing in DTEC half way through the 2007 season and has loved every minute!
Being less than an hour away from home he ranks Oulton Park as his favourite racetrack due to lovely location and it’s quite technical and challenging in a lot of places.
His key sponsors are Track V Road, Clitheroe. They allow him to use all their garage equipment to work on the car and provide as much technical help as he needs. This type of support you cant really put a price on that but he recognises he couldn’t race without their help. He has also used Track V Road to service their road cars ever since they opened.
As Overall and Class C champion for 2010 it is perhaps not surprising that the car this year will be much as it was for 2010. Winter has seen larger front brakes and a new bit of areo.
Running triple Weber DCNF Carbs, the 12 valve, 2.9L Ford cologne V6 is mated to a T5 gearbox and produces around 220 bhp at the flywheel. The car is a conversion from a road car and weighs around 1000 kg
The car has a bit of previous pedigree in that it took class honours in 2005 in the hands of Howard Brian.
