Perry is 51 years old and is a Devon based part time TVR car salesman.
After many years of saving up the necessary funds required to build a historic TVR Tuscan race car, he made his racing debut in car 77 at Rockingham Motor Speedway in August 2010 after two years of planning and building the race car.
A fan and owner of TVR cars for 20 years or more and after reducing his working week 10 years ago, he found he finally had the time to put the effort into some new hobbies and trackdays quickly became a passion. He purchased a TVR Griffith 500 and developed that car into a formidable trackday car meeting a number of TVRCC members around the country on trackdays. He met up with a few chaps at the DTEC round at Castle Combe circuit to watch the Britcar 4 hour race and the Tuscan challenge rounds. Whilst they were watching the Britcar race and noting the lap times, he heard himself saying how hard can it be. That started 2 years of building a Tuscan Challenge car from boxes of bits.
Passionate about the look of the Tuscan Challenge car he feels it’s hard not to want one every time you see one.
He raced for the first time at Castle Combe last year and returned lap times in the Tuscan were 5.5 seconds a lap quicker than the Britcar entrants he had timed two years before.
His motorsport pedigree isn’t vast covering school boy motocross, AMC motocross, ACU road racing in a TZ350 in club events and numerous trackdays in the UK and Europe.
He has a love for Castle Combe because it’s fast and furious; this is closely followed by Donington Park for it is a real test of skills, a circuit for speed hounds. He also rates Oulton Park for its park land setting and demanding driver test of speed.
Outside of motorsport his other major passion is Snowboarding and has travelled all over the world in search of powder. He also does a fair amount of road running, country walking and keep fit, that balances out the more sedentary jigsaw puzzles, reading, watching a variety of cinema films and he does admit to liking a pint down the local pub with a few mates. Along with a great number of more famous drivers he also does a bit of clay pigeon shooting.
His racing is supported by those listed below and by D&H plant hire, Astra Printing, Body craft, and West Country GRP all of whom have a keen interest in racing.
He will be racing two Group A Tuscans in 2011 Early on in the season he will be out in the Cavalino Rampante Red car he raced last year for the first rounds at Snetterton. He will also be out in the Orange and Black ex Dean Cook car. This is a standard AJP V8 rather than the LS3.
He is alos deveolping a new car that is due to be Lime green/black. This car promises significant increase in bhp against the older car LS engined car from 365 to 425.The car will be running a dry sump 6.3 litre Chevrolet LS3 fuel injected engine mated to a Quaif 6 speed gearbox and weighs in at around 980Kg. The car has been precision built from the ground up using a lot of newly manufactured and bespoke parts mated to the original chassis and most of the original refurbished running gear.
