(John Reid & Johan Weidermann)Readman racing started in South Africa 1976-7 making racing fairings for motorbikes and any other racing componets, they later started to manufacture and machine alloy components to replace steel componets on racing car’s to reduce wieght which they still manufacture to-day, John Reid started racing in 1968-9 racing Karts eventually racing and preparing Formula Fords progressing onto Lotus Cortinas / Brabham BT18 in 1977,he was helped from start to finish in South Africa by a very good friend Willem Pretorius who helped on all the cars and projects they rebuilt and raced during his stay in South Africa, John purchased his first TVR Vixen which with help from Nick Parrott was built into a very competive race car which raced all over South Africa. The car was eventually brought back to the UK and is now in storage. In 1991 John returned to the UK to start a new life working at TVR as cheif race mechinic and eventually finished there March 2005 as Director of Motorsport during this period the factory built +/- 40 race car’s under his supervision and also won quite a few championships. In 2005 he started his own business as a consultant on motorsport matters and 2006 he started Grantura Engineering (which started in 1960′s) making racing car components. Grantura specilise in parts for the TVR Tuscan challenge cars and manufacture all the components to build a Tuscan complete of new components, they also manufacture all the wishbones for the early TVR’s using seamless tube & T45.


As of now Grantura Engineering are agents for BTR differentials and Borg Warner repair and service components, they will carry many ratios and spare components for most Differentails and gearboxes, they also do service work on all transmission components of other manufactors, all work undertaken is to the highest race standard. They at present look after fourteen cars transmissions racing in the Dunlop Tuscan challenge with 100% reliability. In 2007 they started to produce a close ratio gearset for the T55 gearbox which they do a exchange gearbox to be able to do same day service..


Grantura now do full service work on all race engines to the very highest standard from tune ups to full rebuilds, they can also change the AJP 8 ECU to remove service timers.
